D. H. Timpko

I write books for children and adults. My motto is “life is fodder for writing.” I believe writing gives purpose to bad, good, and indifferent events. You just need to find the purpose and use it to create something new, memorable, and entertaining.

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was three years old. So I became one. During the day I wrote nonfiction; at night I wrote fiction. After working for many years as a writer for publishing companies, associations, and corporations, I retired. Now I write fiction full time.

My husband and I live in northern Virginia with our two intellectually challenged (but sweet) cats, Kalliope and Cocoa. We love books and own over 10,000 of them!

I am a member of the following organizations:

Theoretical Ghosts, a critique group for serious children’s book writers

logo-scbwiSCBWI, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators; and Broad Universe, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting, encouraging, honoring, and celebrating women writers and editors in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other speculative genres

The Writers-Editors Network, an association of independent professional writers and editors

Broad Universe, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting, encouraging, honoring, and celebrating women writers and editors in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other speculative genres
